Snuggles by ScislaC Snuggles by ScislaC
Here is a collaboration piece. My good friend ~ReverendKage is a great artist and he tends to do a lot of line work but usually doesn't color things in.

Here is his picture "snuggles". The roughness and grittiness of the lines was intentional. KJ wanted the dark and subdued color scheme, so that's what I went with.

done in inkscape (abusing the blur and blend mode filters, meaning this is 100% vector AND scalable)

cruel :D very repulsive at first sight but only because the coon is dead, as i am a girl who happens to have an elmyra-like affection for animals, i said iuuuuuuuuuuv..but then i finally get a relatively more objective perspective and realised that it is actually good! and it is the guy in the pic. that is repulsive, not the work..(since he killed the coon..so, it seems the bunny and the coon didn't get along well, ha! well there is so much more than meets the eye in here! i could write a piece on that! with character analysis and everything:D) the characters are strong, so is the line-work! and it is smart. can't wait to see more of your friend's work.
and the way you've colored it is perfectly suitable with the drawing, it supports the smart idea and the manner there and it does not leave out the whole idea of big guy keeping an eye on the little guy theme:) it totally created the mood.. a fair work of coloring, right dose!
together, you've created a piece with attitude
and sorry for being so chatty

Heh... hopefully not too repulsive. ;) I have great affection for animals too, but it wasn't my original line drawing and I really loved Snuggles and his bunny too much to pass it up. BTW, I've made a couple minor tweaks since it was posted (mainly the metal on the hammers is less "glossy" and more dull and I added rust).

Thanks much for the comment, and I don't worry about chattiness! :)

somehow, the guy's head looks smaller  i must be really tired:D
is it blood on his hammer (on the wooden part) ? if it is, it made it more realistic, but a little too realistic probably..it kind of ruined the naive-humurous mood..(or i am thinking in too much detail..i am not always like that, you know :)) but if it was a darker mood you were aiming for, bullseye! it is really good this way aswell..
i think the background got darker..am i wrong?
the more i look at it the more i like it:) it's gotten into me...i found myself thinking about this piece on an off during the day!
