Ubuntu Dapper + Gnome + XGL + Compiz = Happy Josh

Man oh man is this XGL + Compiz stuff excellent! At first it was a detriment to my productivity (too much time wasted checking out the effects and trying to bring it down... which I couldn't btw)... and now it's almost as if it's always been there because I already rely on it.

The best wobble I could catch was by snapping the terminal window to three other window borders and tugging downward on it a little... you can kinda get the idea, but it doesn't do it justice.

Hmm nice... but i still prefer arch linux... its quick to setup runs even quicker, decent support and help to get things to work... so xgl is a breeze with it aswell.
Did you get the water effects to work???

Haven't tried Arch Linux... done Ubuntu, Mandrake, Suse, and Redhat... next is Gentoo

And yeah, I got the water effects to work. Just curious, do you use bleeding edge (nightly) stuff?

Sorry been a while been lank busy at work

I wouldnt say bleeding... but someone sets up package builds like once a week or every 2nd week, which i think is the lastest out cvs so not quite sure, but getting annoyed with it since you cant run java apps (cant use it at work), and some clown decided to make shift+backspace kill the xserver. so you have to hack it.
Otherwise its lank kewl and puts Windows in its place

Yay! Glad to see you got it working. This XGL stuff is too cool... and remarkably stable, huh!

Xaos is the only decent regular fractal program I've found so far on Linux. Do you know of any other good ones?
I personally think that Dapper is great... it feels a more "solid" than Breezy did and with the XGL stuff in the Universe repo, I'm quite excited.
